greetings from nixon

Greetings from nixon,

As many of you may know, we are going on an indefinite hiatus of sorts. My girlfriend, Stephanie, and I have decided to fulfill a dream we’ve both had for quite some time and will being leaving for South America – I to hopefully teach English, and Stephanie to do research for a Fulbright grant she has applied for (or something similar in this regard). May I just take this opportunity to thank everyone who has supported us, whether by coming to shows, playing alongside us on stage, or simply listening to our music and giving us your thoughts and feedback to what we do. A lot of work has gone into our music; it has been something we each strongly believe in, very much, and will continue to believe in – ultimately though, none of this would have been worthwhile without your participation and support. So thank you.

When we started this band, it was just three people with day jobs looking for a creative outlet. I went out of my way to avoid starting up a band with friends, and instead to find two other people who would fit perfectly for the music I wanted to create. Who would have known that from this would come an entirely different style of music than I had ever anticipated, created by our combined talents and influences, and also two of the best friends I will ever have.

Though I am greatly looking forward to what will certainly be an amazing adventure and life abroad with my girlfriend, I will also very much miss this band. If there is one thing I would ask, it is to please feel free to continue visiting this website for nixon updates, to keep listening to our music (and share it freely), and to send us any feedback, thoughts, hello’s, etc. A lot of time and effort has gone into the music, website, and recordings, and we’d like you to continue to enjoy it.

If there is one thing I hope that we have shared from this band, besides perhaps our overt political leanings, it is our true belief that anyone who has a passion, goal, or dream can make things happen if they are patient and driven enough, and truly believe in what they do… there is always time between the daily responsibilities that never seem to end, if you put your mind to it. Also though, it takes the support and sacrifice of family and friends…so thank you to everyone, our girlfriends for the many late nights, our employers for the many groggy mornings, various venues for giving us a chance, and our friends and family for the great times and memories. I will miss you all. Take care, - Dave, and nixon
